A Call for Inquiry into Sexual Assaults within the UK National Health Service

I am trying, sometimes through sheer stubbornness and sometimes out of frustration, to push a petition in the UK.
Our National Health Service was created after World War II; its intention was to provide healthcare for everyone from the cradle to the grave, and at one time, it was very much a source of pride.
We all contribute a small amount of money through National Insurance and the welfare system.
These days, the quality of care is debatable among those of us who use it. This often raises concerns, especially regarding safeguarding issues related to gender. The main issue right now is the sexual assault and rape of women and children, and sadly, staff as well.
Michelle Once More.
One woman, called Michelle, started speaking out about how she was gang raped and has never been given justice, while the rapists still walk free.
She then began to name these men publicly; she was arrested, had her pet fox taken away, and was banned from posting on social media. I am sure rapists must be feeling very empowered right now, and as for Michelle, I would like to think we all understand the sheer injustice of it.
Sadly, it isn't just about Michelle. There are far too many stories out there—20,000 mental health patients have been sexually assaulted and raped, at times leading to pregnancy. Then there is 75-year-old Valerie, who was sexually assaulted and subsequently died. Nobody noticed until the post-mortem. She was in the hospital because she had suffered a stroke. There was even a murderer who had killed two women and worked on the hospital grounds; he then raped over 100 deceased women.
The Maternity Wing
A few days ago, the police were called to a maternity wing, in the children's area, because of a rape.
All of this is a burden upon my soul: when we are at our most vulnerable, sick, and unable to care for ourselves, predators are actively targeting women and children. As a woman and a mother who looks after a vulnerable person, I can't do nothing. Don't get me wrong—others in the UK feel it too, the sheer outrage and disgust. I can't just walk away from the petition.
A few of us know something is very wrong, but we can't prove what is wrong or why we can't seem to get 100,000 signatures to force the politicians to do an inquiry.
We need an inquiry; we need to address this for all our sakes, but especially for Michelle and the 20,000 mental health patients.
In Scotland alone, officers are said to have responded to 276 reports of sexual assaults and 12 reported rapes—288 incidents in total—at NHS sites across Scotland between 2019 and July 2024.
This doesn't include England, Ireland, or Wales, and it feels like the NHS has become a hunting ground for predators. It isn't the time to be proud; it's time to ask for help. To those of you who already have and continue to do so, you are so appreciated. I need to say this: it isn't just women who have helped—men have stood with us.
