Al Ballouz UPDATE : She staged her own death - read that again
On the very day that the 12 Days of Action Against Violence Against Women began, the accused in the 2022 murders of Synthia Bussières and her two children claimed in court that Bussières had staged her own death and killed the children herself.
As covered in the last article I published, Synthia was stabbed over 20 times. Quite the staging, wouldn't you say?
This unsettling and surrreal theory was presented during the trial at the Longueuil courthouse, as Québec paid tribute to victims of domestic violence.
Mohamad Al Ballouz, who now identifies as a woman under the name Levana Ballouz, stands accused of the premeditated murders of her two children, aged 2 and 5, and the non-premeditated murder of Synthia Bussières in Brossard.
According to evidence previously presented in court, Ballouz allegedly also set fire to the family condo in an attempt to cover up the crime.
Noovo Info spoke with Sylvie Guertin, Synthia Bussières’ mother, before the accused revealed this new theory during the trial. The interview can be seen in the accompanying video. It is in québécois French, I'll try to find the time to write up the subtitles.
Ms. Guertin is deeply distressed by Ballouz’s trial, where Ballouz is representing himself without legal counsel.
Initially, Ms. Guertin attended the court sessions twice a week, finding the strength to be present when the Crown was questioning witnesses. However, she struggles to remain in the courtroom when Ballouz speaks.
"His tone is so aggressive that I leave immediately; I just can’t handle it,"
she told Noovo Info.
The jury trial is expected to last six weeks, with a break from December 24, 2024, to January 6, 2025, for the judicial holidays
